Land Auction will Benefit Homeless Children

Covendium to offer up to $1 million donation to benefit homeless children in Florida during auction of North Carolina property – Greycliff at Lake Glenville

Orlando, Fla.
November 30, 2011

In spite of the difficult financial times, one real estate-related firm in Orlando is going to do its part to make life a little brighter for Central Florida homeless children and their families.

The company, which is preparing to auction a picturesque property in North Carolina, will offer a $1 million dollar donation, which will be split evenly among organizations benefiting homeless children in Seminole, Orange, Osceola and Lake county schools, if bidding on the property hits their targeted auction price of $5 million.

The 125-acre tract at Greycliff at Lake Glenville, which contains 50 homesites,  a variety of amenities and a single-family home on a nearly five acre lot, will hit the auction block December 15 in Atlanta.

The community is situated in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains and has a wide-range of infrastructure completed including a gated entrance, landscaped road embankments, underground water wells and permits in place for electric, septic fields and septic tanks.

According to (WHO?) at Covendium, the company has invested nearly $10 million in the property, including acquisition costs, improvements and infrastructure.

“We live and work in this area and have seen first-hand the devastating impacts homelessness has had on the Central Florida community,” said (WHO?).  “This is a time for all Central Floridians to come together and do their part to help those in need not only during the holiday season, but year-round.  Through this auction, we felt we had an opportunity to do what we could to help children throughout the Orlando area.”

The land is development-ready and it’s one of the last remaining large tracts on the 1,500-acre Lake Glenville, which is situated just outside Cashiers, N.C.

Greycliff at Lake Glenville also includes 12 on-site boat docks and plans for a family pavilion with picnic tables and a fireplace.  Lake Glenville is the highest lake in elevation east of the Mississippi.

The auction will take place at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 15 at the Renaissance Concourse Atlanta Airport Hotel, One Hartsfield Centre Parkway, Atlanta, GA 30354.

The auction will be managed by Florida-based Fisher Auction Company.  Fisher has previously handled numerous high-profile auctions around the country including managing the largest online-only auction in U.S. history, which featured more than 2,000 parcels of land.
